Geoff Tate’s Operation Mind Crime Live

  • 5:36 pm Tuesday, June 12th, 2018 by fingers13

I have always had a special place in my heart for Queensryche and Geoff Tate. Having interviewed them at the launch of their first album “The Warning” and many times over the years since, it is always a pleasure. Today he performed at the station. Tonight his band Operation Mind Crime plays at Revolution in Amityville. You can get tickets at the door. This tour celebrates the 30th anniversary of the epic album “Operation Mind Crime”. Hence the name after the Queensryche debacle.

Below you can watch the video footage of our special intimate acoustic set and Q&A we had earlier [More]

Islanders Oust GM and Head Coach

  • 3:45 pm Tuesday, June 5th, 2018 by fingers13

The New York Islanders have moved general manager Garth Snow and head coach Doug Weight to unspecified duties within the organization. Snow started in 2006. Weight officially took over the head coaching duties in April of last year. Lou Lamoriello was hired as president of hockey operations during the off season and will immediately take over as GM and start a search for a new coach. The move comes on the less than desirable results last season.

It remains to be seen how this will play out regarding  John Tavares who becomes an unrestricted free agent July 1. Losing him would definitely hurt.

Dee Snider’s New Single Shreds Hard

  • 6:36 pm Saturday, June 2nd, 2018 by fingers13

I remember the first time I saw Twisted Sister. Dee was not in the band yet. I always held Twisted as Jay Jay French’s band and truth is he is the one who kept it churning along, but it was Dee that took them to the top. His stage presence and song writing made people notice even past the makeup. Getting to meet him was cool knowing him now as a friend, and the rest of the band, is incredible. I never thought I would be working together with them, introducing them on stage and interviewing them as a DJ. [More]

Vietnam Veterans Memorial Service

  • 6:41 pm Tuesday, May 29th, 2018 by fingers13

I literally stumbled upon this service honoring those Long Islanders killed in action during the war.

I go to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on 83 by Bald Hill every time I want to be still, reflective, grateful and get in touch with my higher power. Usually there is very few or no people there. Yesterday was different as I came upon the site at about 4:50 in the afternoon with no place to park. I finally found a place to stick the bike and trekked up the hill.

As I arrived at the top I saw a color guard preparing and a [More]

This Weekend Is Not About Barbecue

  • 2:47 pm Wednesday, May 23rd, 2018 by fingers13

Thanks for reading. I’m not going to take up your time with a long read. I just want to remind everyone what this weekend is about. I believe this video I made back in ’09 does that. It is of the I Don’t Know MC Lend a Helping Hand Run. We gather and ride to Pinelawn Cemetery and put flags on the graves of our fallen military. Sadly this run doesn’t happen anymore. At least I can’t find any evidence of it. Please correct me if i’m wrong. I hope you enjoy and share the video to help others remember. [More]

Opening Night of Cirque Du Soleil VOLTA

  • 5:20 pm Friday, May 18th, 2018 by fingers13

Last night “Cirque Du Soleil VOLTA” opened under the big top tents at the NYCB Live Nassau Veterans Coliseum for a 6 week run. As with many openings it was also media night. That means they invite all media outlets to come and enjoy the show in hopes of a good review. Well my girl and I give it 4 thumbs up. The evening started with an hour long VIP party with free wine and beer along with pop corn, candy and cake pops.

The welcome area atmosphere was great. Very festive with cool staging of furniture, lights and of course [More]

Being on Stage at Madison Square Garden

  • 6:07 pm Friday, May 11th, 2018 by fingers13

After being in this job for 36 years I thought I had experienced everything and for the most part I have. I have met hundreds of rock stars, hosted countless shows and met thousands of listeners. One of the coolest things I have done is get on stage at a large venue like Nassau Coliseum, Madison Square Garden and the like. Generally I am excited and pumped up yet on point and handle it like, well, work! Usually I go up on stage with the house lights are on and I give a welcome and make a couple of announcements [More]

Jackson Browne Helps “rock CAN roll”

  • 6:53 pm Tuesday, May 8th, 2018 by fingers13

Helping others is in Long Islanders DNA and Aimée Holtzman is a prime example of that. She started rock CAN roll to help feed the hungry and less fortunate. I have know and worked with her at events for years and she is a true guardian angel. She also has a knack of tapping into artists who will support her cause. In this case Jackson Browne.

They will team up at three of his area shows to combat hunger. Check out the details from Aimée below. If your going to the show support her cause by bringing something. Thank you!
