Dee Snider’s New Single Shreds Hard

  • 6:36 pm Saturday, June 2nd, 2018 by fingers13

I remember the first time I saw Twisted Sister. Dee was not in the band yet. I always held Twisted as Jay Jay French’s band and truth is he is the one who kept it churning along, but it was Dee that took them to the top. His stage presence and song writing made people notice even past the makeup. Getting to meet him was cool knowing him now as a friend, and the rest of the band, is incredible. I never thought I would be working together with them, introducing them on stage and interviewing them as a DJ. [More]

Vietnam Veterans Memorial Service

  • 6:41 pm Tuesday, May 29th, 2018 by fingers13

I literally stumbled upon this service honoring those Long Islanders killed in action during the war.

I go to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on 83 by Bald Hill every time I want to be still, reflective, grateful and get in touch with my higher power. Usually there is very few or no people there. Yesterday was different as I came upon the site at about 4:50 in the afternoon with no place to park. I finally found a place to stick the bike and trekked up the hill.

As I arrived at the top I saw a color guard preparing and a [More]

This Weekend Is Not About Barbecue

  • 2:47 pm Wednesday, May 23rd, 2018 by fingers13

Thanks for reading. I’m not going to take up your time with a long read. I just want to remind everyone what this weekend is about. I believe this video I made back in ’09 does that. It is of the I Don’t Know MC Lend a Helping Hand Run. We gather and ride to Pinelawn Cemetery and put flags on the graves of our fallen military. Sadly this run doesn’t happen anymore. At least I can’t find any evidence of it. Please correct me if i’m wrong. I hope you enjoy and share the video to help others remember. [More]

Opening Night of Cirque Du Soleil VOLTA

  • 5:20 pm Friday, May 18th, 2018 by fingers13

Last night “Cirque Du Soleil VOLTA” opened under the big top tents at the NYCB Live Nassau Veterans Coliseum for a 6 week run. As with many openings it was also media night. That means they invite all media outlets to come and enjoy the show in hopes of a good review. Well my girl and I give it 4 thumbs up. The evening started with an hour long VIP party with free wine and beer along with pop corn, candy and cake pops.

The welcome area atmosphere was great. Very festive with cool staging of furniture, lights and of course [More]

Being on Stage at Madison Square Garden

  • 6:07 pm Friday, May 11th, 2018 by fingers13

After being in this job for 36 years I thought I had experienced everything and for the most part I have. I have met hundreds of rock stars, hosted countless shows and met thousands of listeners. One of the coolest things I have done is get on stage at a large venue like Nassau Coliseum, Madison Square Garden and the like. Generally I am excited and pumped up yet on point and handle it like, well, work! Usually I go up on stage with the house lights are on and I give a welcome and make a couple of announcements [More]

Jackson Browne Helps “rock CAN roll”

  • 6:53 pm Tuesday, May 8th, 2018 by fingers13

Helping others is in Long Islanders DNA and Aimée Holtzman is a prime example of that. She started rock CAN roll to help feed the hungry and less fortunate. I have know and worked with her at events for years and she is a true guardian angel. She also has a knack of tapping into artists who will support her cause. In this case Jackson Browne.

They will team up at three of his area shows to combat hunger. Check out the details from Aimée below. If your going to the show support her cause by bringing something. Thank you!

Mountain’s Corky Laing Playing Patchogue Theater Saturday

  • 5:00 pm Tuesday, April 24th, 2018 by fingers13

Back in 1969 Corky Laing joined Leslie West’s Long Island band and got right to work recording Mountains debut album “Climbing” which of course leads off with the classic “Mississippi Queen”. He has played on 10 Mountain albums as well as West’s solo stuff. He has also played with a laundry list of who’s who’s throughout his career. He even formed a super group for his record label in ’76 that lasted into ’78 but never really went anywhere. But the “Secret Sessions were captured and dubbed “Pompeii. An album of some of those recordings was recently released on vinyl [More]

  • 4:18 pm Friday, April 20th, 2018 by fingers13

One of the most endearing parts of my career has been the ability to exposed new and unsung talent. Between Fingers Metal Shop and WBAB Homegrown I have had the opportunity to turn listeners and live music fans onto talent form far and wide as well as our own backyard.  So it’s nice to see when others including artists give an unknown a shot. As is the case in this video.

At a recent show Foo Fighters front-man Dave Grohl brings up a guy with Gene Simmons makeup on. He then gives him his guitar and the band breaks into “Monkey [More]

Billy Joel’s 50th MSG Show Review

  • 5:48 pm Thursday, March 29th, 2018 by fingers13

Last night I took my girlfriend and two daughters to their first Billy Joel show. It was a special night being his 50th consecutive show in his residency at the world famous Madison Square Garden. My oldest daughter, Melodie, recently got into his catalog after hearing “Piano Man” hmm wonder why ha ha. Anyway, he was nothing shy of spectacular. His timeless songs and great stage banter along with a stellar band and light show made for a truly unforgettable evening. To watch and listen to him perform I was amazed by him at his age.  You give me hope [More]
